When did I ever want that?
At twenty-one, she had a plan.
A new city.
A new job.
A fresh start.
She was going to make the most of it this time. Become more confident. Try things she'd never tried before. Meet people. Build a life that felt like hers.
Five years later, she would find herself standing in a very different place.
Older. A little wiser. Maybe a little more tired.
And surrounded by possibilities she once thought she wanted.
Only now, she couldn't understand why she ever wanted them in the first place.
